Meet Our Team

The Patel Lab team is a diverse group of scientists and medical professionals focused on improving the care of patients with Glioblastoma and Cerebrospinal Fluid Disorders. Our team ranges from Undergraduate Students at the University of California Los Angeles, Medical Students at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Post-Doctoral and Post-Graduate researchers.

Chidi is interested in glioblastoma and pH regulation.

Medical & Graduate Students

Amani Carson

Medical Student

IMG_9560.jpg

Amani is interested in access to care differences by socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic differences in patients with brain tumors. She has published multiple papers on this subject and is supported by the Dana Center Fellowship.

Stuart Harper

Medical Student

IMG_9497.jpg

Stuart is interested in the role of choroid plexus in hydrocephalus. He has published multiple publications on this matter, and developed a choroid plexus in vitro and in vivo model using human choroid plexus tissue.

Isha
Sharma

Medical Student

IMG_9273.jpg

Isha is interested in the role of choroid plexus in neurodegenerative disorders. She is working on the connection between amyloid deposition and choroid plexus function.

Brandon Clarke

Medical Student

IMG_9482.jpg

Brandon is interested in direct therapy for glioblastoma. He is working with collaborators in the engineering school to develop a self regulating steady state drug delivery device for local therapy.

Lindsey Dudley

images-2.jpeg

Graduate Student

Lindsey is a collaborating graduate student in the Kornblum lab who carries out bioinformatic analyses on infiltrating tumor cells and choroid plexus.

Undergraduate Researchers

Travis Perryman

Senior Researcher

images-2.jpeg

Travis is interested in infiltrating glioblastoma and pH regulation in glioblastoma. He has discovered differential pH regulation in infiltrating glioblastoma and is focusing on pH regulatory drug treatment to treat glioblastoma. As Lab Manager he keeps our lab running!

Eliana
Oduro

Staff Research Assistant

IMG_9146.jpg

Eliana has developed a quantitative technique to identify the extent of infiltrative tumor burden in non-enhancing regions and is developing a pipeline to reproducibly study and model tumor. Eliana is supported by the Dana Center Undergraduate Fellowship.

Youssef Mahmoud

Senior Researcher

IMG_9302.jpg

Dr. Mahmoud has identified differential cell cycle mechanics in infiltrating glioblastoma cells and is focused on targeting the cell cycle checkpoint regulation to target these slow growing cells.

Brandon Rogowski

Neurosurgery Resident

images-2.jpeg

Brandon is a neurosurgery resident carrying out his dedicated research year working on tumor treatment fields in infiltrating glioblastoma. He is interested int eh cross section between functional neurosurgery and neuro-oncology.
